His deal will begin in the 2026-27 season, and he has signed an amateur try-out contract with the Manitoba Moose for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. According to reports, the trade deal includes an average annual value of $850,000 in the NHL beginning in the 2026-27 season, and he will report to the AHL’s Manitoba Moose on an amateur try-out for the remainder of the season.As per the NHL, Wahlin recently completed his NCAA season with the University of St. Thomas, where he recorded 39 points (21 goals, 18 assists) in 36 games. His 21 goals led both his team and the CCHA, highlighting his offensive impact during the season. His excellent performance as a young professional at the NCAA says enough that he would make a great addition to the team.

According to the NHL, the team has signed the young forward Lucas Wahlin to a one-year, two-way contract with an average annual value of $850,000 in the NHL. Reports suggest that his deal will begin in the 2026-27 season, and he has signed an amateur try-out contract with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. Wahlin used to play for the University of St. Thomas and scored 21 goals with 39 points in 36 games this season in the NCAA with St. Thomas.Announcing the same on Twitter/X handle, and welcoming Wahlin to the Jets, the team stated, “Welcome to Winnipeg, Lucas! We have signed forward Lucas Wahlin to a one-year contract!”Lucas would be a promising player even if he joins the NHL later, after serving the Manitoba Moose, because of his experience as a young player. According to the NHL, he has been UST’s team captain since 2023-24, was recently named the 2025-26 CCHA Student-Athlete of the Year and CCHA Defensive Forward of the Year. He was also freshly named to the All-CCHA First Team for the second consecutive season. Meanwhile, the Winnipeg Jets were last seen in action agains the Vegas Golden Knights where they won by 4-1. As for the points table, the Jets sit in the fifth position, trailing other prominent clubs like the Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and the Utah Mammoth in the Central Division of the Western Conference.
