“Mind and Body Are a Temple”: Indira Krishna from Ganga Mai Ki Betiyaan on Health
On World Health Day, it becomes imperative for us to remember the significance of maintaining good health amid our hectic schedules. While health can be defined in terms of physical fitness, it also refers to being mentally peaceful and emotionally balanced, which comes across strongly with the storylines that have been portrayed on television lately. The storylines that are based on powerful emotions are always a depiction of how one’s strength in the form of internal harmony plays a key role in dealing with difficulties of life. The current plot of the show, ‘Ganga Mai Ki Betiyaan’, has taken a turn wherein tension and complexity in relationships have increased significantly. It is because of the sudden change in the storyline of the show that the viewer’s attention is drawn towards Durgawati, a dominating and authoritarian character performed brilliantly by Indira Krishna. The character of Durgawati shows how unchecked emotions, ambitions, and control have affected both her relationship and internal harmony.Talking about the importance of maintaining balance and prioritising health, especially in emotionally demanding situations, Indira Krishna, who essays the role of Durgawati in Ganga Mai Ki Betiyaan, shared, “For me, every day is health day. My success is health over other priorities. But we work around the clock, so it gets tough, though. I have always prioritized discipline over mental health and physical health. What you are inside brings out the skill, and your mind works accordingly. What you eat is what you are, and every year it is mandatory to get health checks done, and being a woman has more to it. With age, with PMS, with menstrual health, it is impossible to stay tuned to your body and mind. If your mind is happy and good, you save your body. So, your mind and body are a temple to rise and shine.”As the story progresses, her words become a soft nudge to remember that life may have its ups and downs, but it’s finding the the correct balance that really makes us healthy.
