Mike Vrabel’s Kids: All about Patriots Coach’s 2 sons Tyler and Carter | NFL News
New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has found himself in the spotlight for reasons beyond football, after a report linked him to a personal outing with Dianna Russini. According to Page Six, the two were seen together at a luxury hotel in Sedona, Arizona, sharing quiet moments that quickly drew attention. Both Vrabel and Russini, who are married to other people, said they were there with friends not captured in photos. As the story circulates, it has also brought renewed interest in Vrabel’s life away from the sideline, especially his role as a father.

For all the headlines, Vrabel’s identity has long been tied to family, particularly his two sons, Tyler and Carter, whom he shares with his wife, Jennifer. Their stories offer a clearer picture of the man behind the headset.Tyler Vrabel, born in 2000 in Texas, grew up around locker rooms and sidelines. One of his earliest memories still ties back to the Super Bowl stage, when he joined his father during a Patriots celebration as a toddler. “The one thing I do remember is that he was holding me and trying to get me to put the No. 1 with my hand,” Tyler told the Falcons in June 2023. “I couldn’t remember how to do it so he grabbed my hand and showed me how to hold it. I do remember that and other things like that. It’s the weird small things that stick out in your mind.”That moment stayed with Vrabel too. “I want them to have their kids on the field when the confetti comes down,” he said in February 2026. “I was lucky enough to have my oldest son on the podium after a game where I had success in the Super Bowl, and I want them to experience that.”Tyler’s path was not always smooth. A school change during his father’s coaching move to Houston proved difficult. “It wasn’t the right school for him. That was my fault,” Vrabel admitted in 2019. Still, Tyler found his footing, eventually playing college football at Boston College before a brief NFL stint and a shift into coaching. That transition brought a renewed sense of purpose. “At some point, his heart wasn’t in it and he stepped away from football,” Vrabel said in 2025, before adding, “I had never heard him so happy and excited about being back around football.”

Carter Vrabel’s story carries a different tone. Born in 2001, his arrival came during a moment his father could not attend. “I’m not proud to say this, but I’m just going to tell you about my wife. She gave birth to Carter, I missed it,” Vrabel once shared. That absence reflects the reality Carter later described. “During the season, it’s hard,” he said in 2022. “When I was young, I would go to bed before he got home.”Unlike his father and brother, Carter eventually chose baseball over football and carved his own path through junior college and Tennessee Tech. “It just wasn’t my spot,” he said of an earlier stop. “I love it here at Vol State, school especially.”For Vrabel, those two journeys seem to matter more than any headline. The wins, the scrutiny, the noise around his personal life, they all fade a bit when placed next to the quieter, lasting work of raising two sons finding their own way.
