Zanai Bhosle captured the essence of her post with these heartfelt words: “She would want us to celebrate just the way she celebrated life.” Asha Bhosle passed away on April 12 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. The next day, April 13, her cremation took place with full state honours at Shivaji Park Crematorium in the city.

Zanai posted her first update after her grandmother’s passing yesterday. On her Instagram story, she shared a throwback photo with Asha Bhosle. The caption read: “Goodbye my love, love of my life.” She included a red heart emoji at the end. She also posted a picture of Asha Bhosle’s body draped in the national flag, as she received state honours. In her note, she wrote: “So overwhelmed with emotions—I’ll write something when I can—but I have to say that there were so many people who have respected her and honoured her today, and beyond it all, shown her so much love.”

She also posted a heartwarming video showing her trying to copy the expressions from the ‘Umrao Jaan’ song ‘Dil Cheez Kya Hai’ while the legendary singer performs right beside her. A post read: “She’s looking down on us all, especially her family, and I believe she’s going to come back to me very soon, because that is what she promised me and told me always!!. I have lost the love of my life, and there is no bigger grief in the world, so I urge you guys to live life to your fullest and celebrate her that way—and celebrate her life!!”.

Aamir Khan and Vicky Kaushal attended the cremation on Monday. Music legend AR Rahman, Jackie Shroff, Riteish Deshmukh, Renuka Shahane, Ranveer Singh, Rakesh Roshan, Helen, Poonam Dhillon, and Meenakshi Sheshadri visited Asha Bhosle’s Parel home to pay their final respects.

On Sunday, Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, along with Urmila Matondkar and Vidya Balan, visited Asha Bhosle’s home to pay their final respects. The singer had been hospitalised at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday. Doctors confirmed she was fighting multiple health problems and passed away from multi-organ failure on Sunday.
