Nrityasamidha” honours Guru Prabha Marathe with an enthralling display of classical dance.
The city witnessed an enchanting confluence of rhythm, expression and grace as ‘Nrityasamidha’, a classical dance presentation, paid tribute to noted dance guru Prabha Marathe. The event, held at Kalachhaya Cultural Centre in Gokhalenagar, drew an enthusiastic response from art lovers.

Organised jointly by Kathak dancer Vedanti Bhagwat Mahadik’s Layam Institute of Arts, Kalachhaya and Kaladham Foundation, the programme featured a series of performances that highlighted the richness of India’s classical dance traditions. From the resonating sound of ghungroos to expressive abhinaya and intricate footwork, each act created a visually and emotionally immersive experience.
The thematic presentations, including ‘Dashavatar’, brought out dramatic intensity and spiritual depth, while pieces such as Krishna Dhvani, Rukmini Swayamvar, Pratibha and Shivshakti left a lasting impact on viewers.

Performances by Rashmi Jangam Pandkar and her troupe stood out for their seamless blend of rhythm and emotive storytelling. Dance ensembles led by Mulla Afsar Khan and Vedanti Bhagwat Mahadik also impressed the audience with their versatility and coordinated group compositions.

Eminent personalities including Rajshree Shirke, Amala Shekhar and Dr Neelima Deshpande graced the occasion. They lauded the performers and emphasised the importance of such initiatives in preserving and promoting India’s classical art heritage among younger generations.
