‘Why can’t I question daughter-in-law’s past conduct’: Samarth’s mother counters Twisha Sharma’s brother in viral audio clip | Bhopal News
BHOPAL: A purported viral audio clip allegedly featuring retired judge Giri Bala Singh, mother of absconding accused Samarth Singh, has intensified Twisha Sharma case after she was purportedly heard defending questions asked to daughter-in-law Twisha about her “past conduct” and relationships before marriage. In the recording, Giri Bala Singh is purportedly heard countering Twisha’s brother, Major Harshit Sharma, who objects to the alleged character-based questioning faced by his sister after marriage. “Why can’t I question my daughter-in-law’s past conduct?” the mother-in-law is heard saying, while defending repeated discussions around Twisha’s previous relationships and loyalty after marriage. The audio, now circulating widely on social media, captures a tense exchange between the two sides of the family, with Major Harshit Sharma accusing his sister’s in-laws of humiliating and emotionally harassing her over her personal life and alleged past relationships.“Promiscuity can become a habit,” Giri Bala Singh is heard saying in the recording, while justifying concerns allegedly raised within the family over Twisha’s relationships before marriage.Read more: ‘How can you ask bahu if she will go out with other men?’: Explosive audio in Twisha Sharma death case surfacesIn another portion of the audio, the retired judge allegedly says she had worked in Reshampura in Gwalior and had “worked with prostitutes”, before making remarks comparing different ways people “climb the social ladder”.“Some sell their brain, some sell their bodies,” she is purportedly heard saying. The audio also suggests that Twisha had allegedly complained to her family that her husband, Samarth Singh, used abusive language against her, including calling her a “prostitute”.At one point, Major Harshit Sharma is heard emotionally confronting his sister’s mother-in-law.“How can you ask this to your own bahu?” he asks repeatedly, expressing disbelief over questions allegedly posed to Twisha about her character, loyalty and future conduct in marriage.“When I heard this, it broke me. I could not understand how someone is supposed to mellow it down,” he is heard saying. He further tells her that while she may view such matters clinically, “there are emotions involved”.The mother-in-law allegedly responds that any “promiscuous behaviour after marriage” would not be tolerated and insists that such questions were not meant as a “character certificate”, but were relevant to understanding whether “commitment would remain after marriage”.The recording further indicates tension over whether Twisha had disclosed details of her past before marriage. During the exchange, Major Harshit Sharma claims Twisha had informed her husband about past dating experiences, while objecting to why those details were later used against her.Read more: Setback Twisha Sharma’s parents in ‘suicide’ case: Court denies permission for 2nd post-mortemThe tape also includes references to family tensions, phone calls, group exits and concerns allegedly raised by the husband’s family over Twisha’s mental state and behaviour after marriage.Meanwhile, Bhopal Police have intensified efforts to trace Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh, who remains absconding in connection with a dowry harassment and criminal case.Bhopal Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar has announced a reward of Rs 30,000 for information leading to Samarth Singh’s arrest.
