Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has clarified he is not joining the cast of ‘Drishyam 3’, despite earlier reports. He confirmed being approached for a role but declined, stating it wasn’t suitable for him, though he praised the script. Meanwhile, Rawal’s latest film, ‘Thamma’, is performing exceptionally well at the box office, marking a career-best opening for Ayushmann Khurrana.

The Drishyam franchise has been one of Bollywood’s most successful thriller series in recent years. The first film, released in 2015, turned into a massive hit and eventually earned cult status among audiences. Its sequel, ‘Drishyam 2’ (2022), opened to a phenomenal response, surprising even the trade pundits with its blockbuster success. Naturally, anticipation is sky-high for ‘Drishyam 3,’ which is scheduled to hit theatres on October 2, 2026. Recently, the film grabbed headlines after reports suggested that veteran actor Paresh Rawal had joined the cast. However, it seems those reports were premature.

Paresh Rawal confirms he won’t be part of ‘Drishyam 3’

In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Paresh Rawal clarified his involvement in the upcoming film. When asked whether he had signed on for Drishyam 3, the seasoned actor firmly stated, “No, I have not. There’s no truth to these reports at all.”Rawal did reveal, though, that the filmmakers had indeed approached him with a role. “Yes, the makers did approach me,” he confirmed. “But I didn’t feel the role was suitable for me. Maza nahin aaya (I didn’t enjoy it while reading my part).”Although he declined the offer, Rawal praised the film’s story, saying, “The script is very good. I was genuinely impressed. But even with a great script, your character has to excite you. Otherwise, maza nahin aayega (it won’t be enjoyable).”

Paresh Rawal talks about ‘Thamma’ and its success

The actor’s latest release, ‘Thamma,’ has been winning hearts at the box office. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film opened to strong numbers, earning ₹25.11 crore on its first day, followed by ₹19.23 crore on day two and ₹14.45 crore on day three. This brings its opening weekend total to ₹58.79 crore, marking the biggest debut of Ayushmann’s career.When asked about the film’s performance, Rawal smiled and said, “Yes, I heard it is doing well,” before adding that he hasn’t watched it yet as he’s currently in Ahmedabad. ‘Thamma’ is expected to continue its strong run, with projections hinting it could cross the ₹200 crore mark in India if momentum holds steady over the coming weekend.
