How to use Pumpkin seed oil for quick hair growth
There’s no one-size-fits-all rule when it comes to applying oils, but here are some tried-and-tested ways to make the most of pumpkin seed oil for healthy, shiny hair.
1. The warm oil massage
Take two tablespoons of pumpkin seed oil and warm it slightly. Massage it gently onto your scalp using your fingertips for about 10–15 minutes. The warmth helps improve blood circulation, ensuring the nutrients penetrate deep into the follicles. You can leave it on overnight or for at least an hour before washing it off with a mild shampoo. Doing this twice a week can lead to noticeable results within a few months.
2. Pumpkin seed oil hair mask
If your hair feels dull or frizzy, mix pumpkin seed oil with aloe vera gel or coconut oil. Apply this mixture from roots to ends, cover your hair with a hot towel, and leave it for 30–40 minutes. This helps in locking moisture and restoring the lost shine. Aloe vera provides hydration while pumpkin seed oil strengthens the strands, giving you smooth, manageable hair.
3. Mix it with your regular hair oil
You don’t have to ditch your favourite oils. Simply add a few drops of pumpkin seed oil to your regular coconut, almond, or castor oil. This combination will boost the nutrient value and enhance the growth-promoting properties of your existing oils.
4. Add it to your shampoo or conditioner
If you’re too busy for elaborate hair oiling sessions, here’s a quick hack, add 5–6 drops of pumpkin seed oil to your shampoo or conditioner. It will nourish your hair every time you wash it, without taking extra effort. Just make sure to rinse thoroughly and avoid applying too much directly to your scalp if you have oily hair.
