England vs Italy Highlights, T20 World Cup 2026: England entered the contest needing a win to secure their passage to the Super Eights, and they were tested by a spirited Italian side before prevailing by 24 runs in a high-scoring Group C clash.

After opting to bat, England began aggressively with Phil Salt striking 28 off 15 balls. However, wickets fell at regular intervals. Jos Buttler managed only three, Jacob Bethell scored 23, and Harry Brook fell for 14 after a brisk start. When England slipped to 105 for 5, the innings needed stability and acceleration.

Jacks provided both. Displaying clean striking and composure, he dismantled the Italian attack with calculated aggression. His unbeaten 53 off 22 balls powered England to 202 for 7, with Curran offering strong support during their rapid sixth-wicket stand.

Italy’s reply faltered immediately under Archer’s pace, which touched 146kph and yielded early breakthroughs. Reduced to 22 for 3, Italy appeared overwhelmed. Yet Ben Manenti flipped the script with a remarkable assault, hammering five sixes and four fours in a 60 off 25 balls. His 22-ball half-century ranked among the fastest of the tournament. Alongside Justin Mosca, who struck 43, he added 92 in just 48 deliveries to revive hopes.

The turning point arrived when Jacks dismissed Manenti, caught by Tom Banton. Adil Rashid removed Mosca soon after. Grant Stewart’s late 45 kept England alert, but Curran’s double strike sealed the outcome.

Italy were dismissed for 178 in 20 overs, as England held firm to progress.
