The upcoming most anticipated Malayalam film ‘Mohiniyattam’, a sequel to the 2024 comedy hit ‘Bharathanatyam’, has wrapped up production and is now gearing up for its release. Now, the makers recently unveiled a new poster along with the official release date.

‘Mohiniyattam’ is set to hit cinemas on April 10, 2026, coinciding with the Vishu festival period in Kerala. The timing makes it an attractive option for family audiences looking for holiday viewing. While no other films are slated for release on the exact same day, the month will see major titles hitting theatres, including highly anticipated projects like ‘Drishyam 3,’ starring Malayalam superstars Mohanla.

Alongside the announcement, the makers released a new poster showcasing the principal characters. It introduces fresh additions to the cast, including Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vinay Forrt, Baby Jean, and Jagadish, standing around a visibly frightened Saiju Kurup. Another earlier poster featured the original characters appearing alarmed, with a mysterious visual element in the background that hinted at darker undertones.

Cast, crew and legacy of the first film

Directed and written by Krishnadas Murali, the film completed shooting in January 2026 after beginning production in November 2025. Several actors from the original movie, including Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Kalaranjini, Swathi Das Prabhu, and Sruthy Suresh, return for the sequel. The first installment gained strong appreciation, particularly after its streaming release, which expanded its audience.
