Man stripped, assaulted over suspected involvement in missing girl case in Karnataka; 14 arrested

MANDYA: An incident of vigilante violence was reported from Dinka village in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya district, where a man was allegedly subjected to a brutal assault. The victim, Naveen, a resident of Mysuru, was attacked along with his brother-in-law by a group of men who accused them of involvement in a missing girl’s case.Fourteen members allegedly involved in the crime, among them prime accused Girish (47), were arrested, and police are on the lookout for the remaining alleged accused.According to preliminary investigations, the accused allegedly stripped Naveen and assaulted him, resulting in multiple fractures and serious injuries. Disturbingly, the assailants reportedly recorded the incident on video, which shows the victim pleading for mercy while the attack continued.Police sources indicate that the violence stemmed from accusations made by the girl’s father, Ninganna of Bommalapura in KR Pet taluk, along with her brothers Girish and Ganesh. They allegedly suspected Naveen and his relative of helping in the girl’s disappearance. It is also claimed that an earlier altercation involving Naveen’s group and the girl’s brother, Sanjay, triggered the retaliatory attack near Kanaganahalli.The injured victim is currently undergoing treatment at KR Hospital in Mysuru and is said to be out of danger. The Pandavapura Police Station registered a case.
