'Destiny sided with you': Sutapa Sikdar recalls Irrfan Khan's wish to marry her a second time in heartfelt anniversary note
Sutapa Sikdar remembered late Irrfan Khan on their wedding anniversary via Instagram video, explaining they picked her birthday (23rd) so he’d remember. “Belated Happy anniversary Irrfan. You wanted to remarry after 25 years,” she wrote, noting Ramadan fasts. Irrfan died in 2020 at 53 from cancer.

Late actor Irrfan Khan‘s wife, Sutapa Sikdar, remembered him on their wedding anniversary with a heartfelt note. Sharing a video, she recalled why they chose their wedding date and spoke about their unfinished plans to remarry after completing 25 years together.

Sutapa Sikdar’s heartfelt anniversary tribute

Taking to Instagram, she shared the clip and wrote, “Our anniversary was on the 23rd And the reason to choose the date was to keep the date same as my birthday So irrfan could remember . He just didn’t remember dates . Belated Happy wedding anniversary irrfan . You wanted to marry again when we had finished 25 years of marriage. You wanted to do everything which we didn’t do on our simplest marriage possible .but even destiny sided with you and we didn’t get to marry again with all the rituals Et all. In my part of the world we are fasting in Ramadan.” She further added, “And Ammi must be telling you up there roze rakha kar irrfan . And to make you understand it better she called you up there in Ramadan. Shaadi aur Ramzaan Mubarak !!! I took a trip to your hometown tonk and celebrated our D day ! I can hear your laugh at the word DDay !!”.

Irrfan Khan’s legacy and passing

Irrfan Khan, celebrated for standout performances in hits including ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘Life of Pi’, ‘Piku’, ‘Hindi Medium’, ‘The Lunchbox’, and ‘Life in a Metro’, lost his battle with neuroendocrine cancer on April 29, 2020. Diagnosed in 2018, he passed away at 53 in a Mumbai hospital from colon infection complications. He leaves behind his wife Sutapa Sikdar and sons Babil Khan, an emerging actor, and Ayaan Kubbra.
