US Central Command (CENTCOM) has released a footage from a precision strike under Operation Epic Fury against Iran. The video shows night-vision footage of a an aerial source hitting a white truck. The footage was posted on social media with a caption: “As the secretary of war stated this morning, US forces are hitting Iran surgically, overwhelmingly, and unapologetically. Operation Epic Fury is laser-focused on destroying Iranian offensive missiles.”The release comes as US officials defend the widening military campaign against Iran. War secretary Pete Hegseth said during a press conference at the Pentagon: “We’re hitting them surgically, overwhelmingly and unapologetically.”
According to Hegseth operation has a “decisive mission” to eliminate the threat of Iranian ballistic missiles, destroy Iran’s navy and ensure there were “no nukes.” Hegseth further said the conflict was not intended as a regime-change war, though he acknowledged that Iran’s leadership has changed following the killing of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “This is not a so-called regime-change war, but the regime sure did change, and the world is better off for it,” he said.
.
The fighting has spread across the region. Six US army soldiers from a logistics unit in Kuwait have been killed. Eighteen American service members have been seriously wounded, according to CENTCOM. Hegseth also said one Iranian weapon struck a fortified tactical operations centre.Asked if there are boots on the ground now in Iran, Hegseth said, “No, but we’re not going to go into the exercise of what we will or will not do.”Officials have not given a clear timeline for the operation. Trump has said the mission could last four to five weeks, adding, “we have the capability to go far longer than that.”
