BHOPAL: Police probing the deaths of a woman and her four daughters in Sagar district are examining whether domestic tension linked to the birth of daughters may have led to the incident.Savita Bai (30), a resident of Nanni Devri Khamariya village under Kesli police station, allegedly threw her four daughters into a farm well before hanging herself from a nearby tree on Thursday. The children were identified as Anshika (7), Raksha (5), Diksha (3) and Manisha (5 months).Family members and villagers said Savita had given birth to her fourth daughter five months ago and there were indications of strain in the marriage after the birth of daughters.

Her husband Chandrabhan Lodhi, who works as a bus driver in Jabalpur, had not returned home since the birth of the youngest child and had reportedly not even seen the infant, relatives said. Police said statements of family members and villagers are being recorded and all possible angles are being examined. Savita’s younger sister Meena Lodhi, who lives with the family, told police that she was sleeping in a separate room with three of the girls on Wednesday night.The incident came to light on Thursday morning after the woman and her daughters were found missing. Family members and villagers began searching nearby fields when the body of the eldest girl was spotted floating in a deep well.
