BHOPAL: A young man’s bid to board a moving train at Bhopal Junction Railway Station turned into a life-threatening ordeal, leaving him critically injured after he was trapped and dragged between the train and the platform.He is under treatment in Hamidia hospital.The harrowing 13-second CCTV footage, captured on the night of March 31, surfaced on April 3, showing the sequence that unfolded on Platform Number 6.The video went viral on social media on Friday.

Youth slips in a bid to catch moving train

The incident occurred around 11:30pm as the 19304 Bhopal-Indore Express sped through the station. Railway officials described the youth, appearing to be 25 or 26 years old and possibly from Bihar, running alongside the train. In a split second, he collided with a coach door and became wedged between the moving train and the platform edge.Over the next five seconds, he was spun around four or five times before being dragged underneath the train, sustaining severe injuries including a broken arm and a serious head wound.An official recounted the scene: “It was a terrifying sight. He suffered a broken arm and a severe head injury.” Bystanders quickly alerted authorities, and the victim was rushed to the hospital.No identification documents were found on him, and his mobile was shattered beyond use, hampering efforts to confirm his identity.The Government Railway Police (GRP) has launched a preliminary probe. SP (GRP) Rahul Lodha stated, “There are no indications of foul play or conspiracy. This appears to be a case of the young man’s negligence in attempting to board a moving train. Further details will be shared once the victim provide us details.” Railway safety experts have renewed calls for stricter enforcement against boarding moving trains, a common peril at busy stations. The GRP urges passengers to wait for trains to halt completely to avoid such tragedies.PRO Bhopal railway division, Nawal Agarwal said, “Such incidents are unfortunate. We regularly inform passengers to follow safety precautions at the platform. We have prepared several videos also in this regard.”
