12 days have passed since ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star Eric Dane passed away after battling ALS. Though the family is in mourning, Dane’s partner, Rebecca Gayheart, stole a moment from time for daughter Billie’s 16th birthday. On March 3rd, Rebecca marked the occasion by sharing a throwback picture of her and Eric Dane’s daughter, Billie, and wished her a happy birthday.

Rebecca Gayheart celebrated her daughter’s sweet 16 with a heartfelt message. The actress posted a throwback photo of Billie smiling for the camera, holding an ice cream cone. She wrote, “Happy Sweet 16 to the sweetest girl – mommy loves you to the moon and back unconditionally forever and ever. @billiedane You Are My Sunshine.”

Billie’s birthday came almost two weeks after Eric passed away, following a battle with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Before his demise, Eric, who was still legally married to Rebecca, shared a message for his daughters in his final interview.

“First, live now. It’s hard, but I learned to do that,” Eric told his daughters in the February 20 episode of ‘Famous Last Words.’ “Second, fall in love. Not necessarily with a person, although I do recommend that as well, but fall in love with something. Find your passion, your joy. Find the thing that makes you want to get up, drives you through the entire day.”“Third, choose your friends wisely, find your people and allow them to find you, and then give yourself to them,” he continued. “The best of them will give back to you, no judgment, no condition, no questions.”
