Himanta gets rousing welcome as BJP’s yatra enters Tinsukia

Dibrugarh: BJP’s Jan Ashirwad Yatra entered into its seventh day, with CM Himanta Biswa Sarma leading the charge through Tinsukia on Sunday. Covering the constituencies of Margherita, Digboi and Makum, Sarma’s yatra witnessed an outpouring of public enthusiasm, with hundreds of supporters lining up along roadsides to catch a glimpse of the CM.Accompanied by a high-profile delegation, which included state BJP president Dilip Saikia, cabinet minister Rupesh Gowala, Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma and Digboi MLA Suren Phukan, Sarma acknowledged each and every cheer from the crowd, while party supporters raised slogans amid showering of flowers upon the convoy.Reaffirming the govt’s commitment to development and governance, Sarma said, “People are acknowledging what we did in the past five years, and I am confident that they will give us a strong mandate this time,” Sarma said, before adding that the yatra’s main purpose was to directly connect with citizens, highlighting the govt’s achievements and consolidating organisational strength, ahead of the upcoming polls.Saikia, who has been a constant presence alongside the CM, said, “The people of Upper Assam have shown that they stand firmly with BJP and with CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. The warmth and affection we have received in Margherita, Digboi and Makum is a testament to the trust the people have placed in our govt.”Based on the theme “Assam’s Security is BJP’s Commitment,” the yatra was launched by the CM at Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur on Feb 28. With BJP looking to score a hat-trick of wins, the yatra is scheduled to cover over 400 km. The first phase of the yatra will conclude on Monday.
