Jimmy Fallon reveals disastrous college hair ‘transformation’ that made his mom cry

Picture this: you’re in college, broke but game for anything, and someone offers you a “free” hair makeover. What could go wrong, right? Well, for Jimmy Fallon, that gamble ended with his mom in tears, and now the whole world’s in on the story.

Jimmy Fallon’s hair disaster during his college days

Jimmy told the tale on ‘The Tonight Show’, and it’s the kind of college disaster most of us can relate to. He was chatting with Tom Brady, who admitted he, too, had a few questionable hair moments growing up. When Jimmy pulled up an old photo of Brady rocking a legendary bowl cut, the floodgates opened. “My mom used to cry when I came home with haircuts,” Brady confessed. That’s when Jimmy jumped in with his own hair horror story. “One time, I got a perm,” he said. “This is a true story. I was in college, and you know, when you’re in college, you have no money, and you take anything for free,” he explained. He explained how he was tagging along with friends getting haircuts when a student stylist stopped him. “My friends were getting their hair cut, and I was walking past. This one girl goes, ‘Your hair is so straight. Did you ever think about getting a body wave?’ Jimmy revealed.Jimmy had no clue what that meant: “I go, ‘I don’t know what that is, but yeah!’ “Jimmy recalled that the girl promised she’d do it for free, as she needed the practice. “She goes, ‘I’m actually in school right now. I can give you one for free’,” the late-night host remembered. “I go, ‘Let’s do a body wave, man. Are you kidding me? Let’s go for this.’ “Next thing he knew, he was sitting under a heat lamp with his hair in rollers. Fallon admitted that he didn’t know what a “body wave” actually was when his then-budding hairstylist friend suggested it. He thought he’d end up with “a little wave.” Instead, he got the tightest perm ever!“She took out the rollers, and I had the tightest perm I’ve ever seen in my life,” Fallon recalled.Of course, Tom Brady wanted to see pictures.Jimmy just groaned, “They’re out there somewhere.”However, here comes the real consequence: “I remember going home, and my mom started crying.” All Jimmy could say was, “But it was free!” Not exactly what his mom wanted to hear.

Jimmy Fallon: Who is he?

Born in Brooklyn, Jimmy Fallon grew up obsessed with comedy, especially ‘Saturday Night Live’, aka SNL. That dream came true in 1998 when he joined SNL and quickly became a fan favorite, thanks to his spot-on impressions and that contagious laugh. His chemistry with castmates like Tina Fey made him a standout. After SNL, Jimmy landed ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ in 2009, shaking up late-night TV with celebrity games, ridiculous sketches, and music bits that people couldn’t stop sharing online. By 2014, he took over ‘The Tonight Show’ from Jay Leno and made it his own. Since then, it’s been more than a decade of ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’, and the SNL alum is still making the audience laugh at either his monologues or his own life stories from the past.
