'Karuppu' OTT rights: Where to stream Suriya's sction thriller film after the theatrical run
Suriya’s ‘Karuppu’ is generating buzz with its digital rights secured by Amazon Prime Video and satellite rights by Zee Tamil. Directed by RJ Balaji and co-starring Trisha, the commercial entertainer is slated for a May 14, 2026, theatrical release, aiming for a grand comeback for the star.

Suriya’s upcoming film ‘Karuppu’ is already making headlines before its theatrical release and latest reports suggest that the film’s digital streaming rights have been acquired by a popular OTT platform. The satellite rights of the film have already been secured by Zee Tamil which was confirmed by the makers themselves. According to Movie Tamil Twitter page, ‘Karuppu’ will stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Overseas rights and release date locked

The makers have confirmed that ‘Karuppu’ will hit theatres worldwide on May 14, 2026. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film marks his first major collaboration with a top-tier star like Suriya. The film also features the popular actress Trisha Krishnan in a key role and reportedly the film is designed as a commercial entertainer. It blends action, emotional drama, and mass appeal and fans are expecting it to mark the comeback of Suriya after the underwhelming film ‘Retro’.

Story inspired by classic elements

The narrative of ‘Karuppu’ is said to feature high-energy sequences and engaging interval blocks.On the technical front, Sai Abhyankkar composes the music, while GK Vishnu handles cinematography.Apart from ‘Karuppu’, Suriya is set to star in ‘Vishwanth and Sons’ which is directed by Venky Atluri. The ‘Jana Nayagan’ actress Mamitha Baiju will be the female lead in the film.In addition, Suriya’s 47th film will be directed by the ‘Aavesham’ fame Jithu Madhavan. The most awaited film also has the Malayalam actors Naslen and Nazriya Nazim in pivotal roles.Meanwhile, Suriya’s previous outing was the actioner ‘Retro’ which was directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Even though the expectations were high for the movie which had a good plot and a promising director, the Suriya starrer ‘Retro’ received mostly mixed reviews from the audiences and did an underwhelming performance at the box office.
