The reunion took place at a party and brought back vivid memories from the 2000 film that launched her career. Surprise encounter
Kate Hudson opened up about the encounter in an interview with Deadline. She spotted Patrick Fugit at the event and felt an instant time warp. “I just saw him the other day at a party,” Kate Hudson recalled to Deadline. “He came up, he was like, ‘Hey,’ I’m like [gasps], and he’s such a man now.”Kate Hudson noted how Patrick Fugit, now 43, had matured since their filming days. “And I don’t see him at all. And I was like, oh my God, we had such a great moment. I just was, like, transported to 25 years ago,” Kate Hudson said. She reflected on their age gap back then. “And I was like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe I’m looking at you right now,’ you know? And then back then … he was young, and I thought I was so old, but we’re actually very close in age. But I was, like, 19, 20, and he was 15, so it felt like we were, you know, lifetimes apart, and now I feel like we’re the, basically the same age,” Kate Hudson added.

‘Almost Famous’ follows teenage journalist William Miller, played by Patrick Fugit, as he embeds with fictional rock band Stillwater in 1973. Kate Hudson portrayed Penny Lane, a charismatic “band-aid” who travels with rock groups. The role earned Kate Hudson an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe win for Best Supporting Actress.Patrick Fugit previously shared his teenage crush on Kate Hudson with People magazine. “I screen tested with Kate Hudson, and she was very magnetic and very captivating,” Patrick Fugit said to People. “I was 16.
