Man beaten to death over 10-inch land row | Patna News
Patna: A 68-year-old man, Surendra Sahni, was brutally beaten to death over a mere 10-inch land dispute in Samastipur district’s Jorapura Ward 6 area on Saturday. The incident occurred when the victim went to collect grass in the fields. The family alleged that the accused had earlier clashed with them over the land dispute, and a case in this regard had been registered at Patori police station. The victim’s family and the accused are neighbours and distant relatives, police said.According to the police, Surendra had three sons and three daughters, all of whom are married. All the family members live in houses built on the same piece of land.On Saturday, Surendra went to the field to collect grass. Meanwhile, his neighbour Lalo Sahni arrived there along with other members of his family and attacked Surendra with sticks, rods and bricks. When the victim’s family members reached the spot after hearing the commotion, the attackers had already fled and Surendra had died. Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident.Patori SHO Shailesh Kumar said, “The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination. Further necessary action will be taken according to the written application from the deceased’s family members.”
