Superstar Rajinikanth and director Nelson Dilipkumar are reportedly planning a third collaboration after ‘Jailer 2.’ Nelson’s new script has impressed the actor, hinting at another action-packed entertainer. ‘Jailer 2,’ the sequel to the 2023 hit, is slated for a June 2026 release, featuring a stellar cast and Anirudh Ravichander’s music.

Nelson Diliplumar’s new script impresses Rajinikanth

According to a report by Valai Pechu, Nelson Dilipkumar narrated a fresh subject to Rajinikanth during the ongoing shoot of ‘Jailer 2.’ The reports suggest that the story was really liked by the ‘Coolie’ star. While details of the new project remain under wraps, the project is expected to be another action entertainer infused with Nelson’s signature dark humor and mass appeal.

If things go as planned, the project may take off once ‘Jailer 2’ is completed and after Rajinikanth finishes his film with Kamal Haasan. However, as of now, there has been no official confirmation from either the actor or the director.Speaking about the upcoming movie ‘Jailer 2,’ it will be the sequel to the 2023 super hit ‘Jailer.’ The movie once again reunites the music director Anirudh Ravichander with Rajinikanth. The film part featured the iconic ‘Hukum’ song, and the ‘Powerhouse’ song from ‘Coolie’ would only raise fans’ expectations.Returning cast members include Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Mirnaa, who reprise their roles from the first film. The sequel also includes SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Anna Rajan, who will be seen in key roles.Additionally, superstars Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal are expected to make cameo appearances once again, while Nandamuri Balakrishna and Mithun Chakraborty are reportedly playing extended roles.‘Jailer 2’ is expected to hit theaters on June 12, 2026.

Rajinikanth was last seen in ‘Coolie,’ which went on to make over Rs 518 crore worldwide and is now streaming online. It has a star-studded lineup including Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and cameos by Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde.
