Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, also featuring Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf, hit theatres on October 2, going head-to-head with Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. The box office clash was always expected to be uneven after all, Kantara comes with the weight of a massive franchise and a much grander scale. While the 2022 original was a phenomenal success, the new installment — a prequel — has managed to surpass even those numbers. Another major factor that widened the box office gap was the wider release of Kantara: Chapter 1, which opened in five languages – Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam, giving it a far broader reach compared to ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’.‘SSKTK’ opened at Rs 9.25 crore on day 1. The film saw a drop on day 2 which is Friday and made only Rs 5.5 crore. But there was growth as compared to that over the weekend. It made Rs 7.5 crore respectively on Saturday and Sunday each.
