The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is stepping up efforts to make toll plaza operations more transparent and commuter-friendly by directing its field offices to prominently display details about the ‘Local Monthly Pass’ and the ‘Annual Pass’ at all toll plazas under its jurisdiction.Signage boards will be installed at prominent locations, including fee plaza approaches, customer service areas, and entry/exit points, to ensure that highway users are fully aware of available facilities, rates, and procedures, helping make travel smoother and more economical. The information will be available in English, Hindi, and/or the local regional language.NHAI has instructed its field offices to place these boards within 30 days and ensure that they remain clearly visible during both day and night, in line with applicable fee rules. For wider accessibility, the details will also be uploaded on the ‘Rajmargyatra’ mobile application and the corresponding NHAI project websites.

Local Monthly Pass

Commuters can benefit from concessional passes designed to make commuting more seamless. The Local Monthly Pass is available for commuters with private vehicles residing within a 20 km radius (or as applicable) of a fee plaza. To avail the Local Monthly Pass, commuters must submit their Aadhar card, Vehicle Registration Certificate, and proof of residential address. The pass is issued at the fee plaza helpdesk after verification of these documents.

Annual Pass

The Annual Pass is valid for one year or up to 200 fee plaza crossings and applies only to private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans.It can be purchased through the Rajmargyatra app and is digitally activated on the FASTag linked to the vehicle after paying a one-time fee of Rs 3,000. The pass is accepted at approximately 1,150 fee plazas across National Highways and Expressways in India. The installation of prominent signage at fee plazas underscores NHAI’s commitment to improving commuter experience, increasing transparency, and making highway travel more convenient and economical for users nationwide.
