CHENNAI: TVK president Vijay on Monday launched his election campaign from Perambur in Chennai after filing his nomination, attacking chief minister M K Stalin over what he described as a rise in crime, drug menace, and a worsening law and order situation.He said the situation had left people feeling unsafe, particularly women and children.
“For five years, Stalin sir had control of the police department. If basic safety cannot be ensured, what is the purpose of this government and administration?” Vijay said.“Stalin sir does not care about safety or people’s welfare. For him and the DMK, looting for their families was the only priority over the past five years,” he said, citing alleged irregularities in TASMAC operations and the cash-for-jobs scam linked to the municipal administration department.“They are now going to give cash that they have looted. As I said earlier, take everything from them but whistle in their ears and send them back. Just as they deceived us smartly, we will send them out,” Vijay said.

Urging voters to support the party’s whistle symbol, Vijay said the election would define an entire generation and mark the beginning of a “whistle revolution”. He said, “I have come here leaving all luxuries to serve my people, bearing all the pain. I will never cheat you.”He reiterated that while there was no multi-cornered contest, the main fight was between the DMK and the TVK. He is scheduled to campaign at five locations on Monday, including Kolathur and Villivakkam.
