Gurgaon horror: Friend proposes, woman says no, stops talking; he shoots her

GURGAON: A 33-year-old man shot at a woman after she refused his marriage proposal and stopped talking to him in Dundahera area on Thursday morning.Vipin, a resident of Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, shot at Shivangi (25), a resident of Pratapgarh in UP, while she was leaving for work. Vipin was arrested from the spot and a country-made pistol used in the attack was recovered from his possession.

Police received information about the incident around 10am. Shivangi, who received a bullet injury in her shoulder, was taken to Civil Hospital, from where she was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. She is stable, according to the police.Police spokesperson Sandeep (ASI) said, “We have registered an attempt to murder case against Vipin and also added Arms Act provisions.”According to the sources, the accused suspected the victim of developing a friendship with another man, a UP native.Shivangi works in a private company in Udyog Vihar phase 4. Vipin, a driver in a private company in the city, lives at a rented accommodation near Shivangi’s house.“Vipin and the victim knew each other for two years, but the woman recently stopped communicating with him. He wanted to marry her. Upset over being ignored, he confronted her on Thursday morning, leading to an argument during which he allegedly fired at her,” Udyog Vihar station house officer Vinod Kumar said.The accused visited his native place on Oct 15 but returned to the city on Diwali. The victim told the media that she used to normally talk with the accused, but he “misunderstood” their friendship.Police said while the victim was leaving for work, the accused entered a building where she was staying in a rented room. Shivangi told police while she was wearing shoes in the corridor outside her room on the first floor of the house, the accused waited for her on the stairs and blocked her way. Carrying a country-made pistol, he forced her to get inside her room and threatened to shoot her. “When I refused to allow him inside my room and confronted him, he threatened to kill me, following which I started shivering with fear. He fired a bullet at me which hit my shoulder,” Shivangi told the media at Civil Hospital.The victim fell on the ground in a pool of blood in the corridor. Hearing her screams, local residents and shopkeepers gathered at the spot and informed the police control room, following which police reached the spot along with a forensic team.
