The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 following the written examination conducted in August, 2025 and the Personality Test interviews held between December, 2025 and February, 2026.According to the official notification issued by the Government of India’s Press Information Bureau, a total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and various Central Services in Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.Check more: UPSC CSE final result 2025 live updatesRead more: UPSC CSE 2025 toppers list: AIR 1 obtained by Anuj AgnihotriCategory-wise recommendationsThe recommendations include candidates from several categories. Out of the 958 candidates selected, 317 belong to the general category, 104 to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 306 to the Other Backward Classes (OBC), 158 to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and 73 to the Scheduled Tribes (ST).The total also includes candidates under the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories. Among them, 10 candidates fall under PwBD-1, 14 under PwBD-2, nine under PwBD-3 and nine under PwBD-5.The commission also stated that the claims of recommended candidates regarding reservation status under EWS, OBC, SC, ST and PwBD remain subject to verification by the concerned authorities.Vacancies across servicesThe government had reported a total of 1,087 vacancies across the services to be filled through the examination process. These include 180 vacancies in the IAS, 55 in the IFS and 150 in the IPS.For Central Services Group ‘A’, the number of vacancies stands at 507, while Group ‘B’ services account for 195 posts. The vacancies include 446 posts in the general category, 104 for EWS, 306 for OBC, 158 for SC and 73 for ST candidates. The total vacancy figure also includes 42 posts reserved for PwBD categories.Appointments to the services will be made based on the availability of vacancies and the provisions contained in the Civil Services Examination Rules 2025.Reserve and extended lists maintainedIn accordance with Rule 20(4) and Rule 20(5) of the Civil Services Examination Rules 2025, the commission has maintained a consolidated reserve list of 258 candidates.The reserve list comprises 129 candidates from the general category, 26 from EWS, 86 from OBC, eight from SC and six from ST categories, along with three candidates from PwBD categories.Alongside the consolidated reserve list, the commission has also prepared an extended list under the same provisions of the examination rules.Additional procedural detailsThe candidature of 348 recommended candidates has been kept provisional pending verification procedures. In addition, the results of two candidates have been withheld.UPSC stated that candidates seeking clarification regarding the examination or recruitment process may contact the facilitation counter at its campus on working days between 10:00 hours and 17:00 hours.The final results are available on the official UPSC website, and the marks of candidates will be uploaded within 15 days of the declaration of the results.
