Ludhiana: Khannapolice have detained Shiromani Akali Dal’s Hardeep “Honey” Rosha and his nephew, Karan Rosha, following a violent post-election home invasion that targeted a rival candidate’s family, including a pregnant woman, during a victory rally.The police action came on Sunday following a complaint by defeated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Pradeep Kumar. The violence erupted on Friday during a victory procession celebrating Rosha’s win over Kumar in the Ward 30 municipal council election.Investigators claim the political rivalry turned physical when Rosha’s victory rally stopped directly outside Kumar’s residence. Kumar alleged that the crowd had set off firecrackers and blasted offensive music. When his family protested, the celebration escalated into a targeted home invasion.“Supporters entered the house and assaulted my family,” Kumar stated in his police report, adding that the group had attacked his pregnant sister-in-law when she had attempted to intervene.Street-level security cameras captured the entire confrontation, providing detectives with critical evidence .Khanna senior superintendent of police Darpan Ahluwalia has confirmed that the arrests were executed after a preliminary investigation of the footage.More than two dozen individuals, including Rosha’s son and members of the extended family, have been charged with assault, rioting, and criminal trespass under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.The clash carries significant political weight in the region. Rosha is a known ally of SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, while Kumar is closely tied to Punjab Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond.
