The actress recently revisited the painful chapter while appearing with husband Jackky Bhagnani on Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi‘s talk show ‘Double Date’.During the conversation with Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi’s talk show Double Date, Rakul shared how a split-second decision during a workout resulted in a serious back injury and a lengthy recovery process.The actress revealed that the injury occurred while she was attempting an 80 kg deadlift. Although she usually followed all safety precautions, she decided to skip one crucial step that day. Reflecting on the incident, Rakul said, “No matter what your trainer tells you, deadlift is the worst exercise to do. It’s an ego lift.”She explained that she normally performed the exercise while wearing a support belt but chose not to use it on that occasion. “That one mistake caused me a slip disc and 40 days of bed rest,” she said.While the injury brought severe discomfort, Rakul admitted that the emotional impact was equally difficult to deal with. Accustomed to a busy lifestyle, constant work commitments and regular workouts, the actress found it frustrating to suddenly depend on others for everyday tasks.“It was not only a physical injury, it was affecting me mentally too. It was a mental mess up because I was going through a physical turmoil,” she shared. She further explained how losing her independence became one of the biggest challenges during recovery. “Suddenly, I was not able to do anything, and that really triggers you.”

Rakul also spoke about the role Jackky Bhagnani played during those difficult weeks. According to the actress, his support made a significant difference while she was recovering. “It’s very important that your partner supports you at that point, and that was Jackky’s biggest contribution when I was injured. He was there for me,” she said. His constant presence helped her navigate a period that tested her both physically and emotionally.Reports suggest that the injury led to intense pain, restricted movement and nerve-related complications. Despite the discomfort, Rakul initially continued meeting her professional commitments and only slowed down when doctors advised complete rest.
