5-year-old girl stuck in lift door, dies
A 5-year-old girl died with a head injury when she got stuck in the collapsible elevator door at a women’s hostel in Gachibowli on Wednesday. Police booked a negligence case against the building owner and the hostel operator.

Hyderabad: A 5-year-old girl died with a head injury when she got stuck in the collapsible elevator door at a women’s hostel in Gachibowli on Wednesday. Police booked a negligence case against the building owner and the hostel operator.At 12 noon, Gachibowli police received a Dial 100 call alerting them about the death of a girl at a hostel in the Gowlidoddi area in a lift accident.Police rushed to the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem. The victim was identified as Bistu Ghosh, a native of Kharkhand. Bistu stays with her grandparents, who work as cooks at Mahi Women PG hostel at Gowlidoddi.While her grandparents were busy in the kitchen, Bistu got into the lift on the ground floor and went to the fifth floor. “The accident occurred while she was returning to the ground floor. The girl got stuck between the two collapsible doors of the lift, probably when she was trying to open or close the doors. The lift came to a halt between the third and the second floors. The girl suffered a severe head injury and died on the spot,” Gachibowli inspector K Balaraju said.CCTV footage only shows the girl getting into the lift. “She did not get out at the fifth floor. After seven minutes, a woman on the ground floor complained to the staff that the lift was not moving, and then they noticed the accident,” the inspector said.On the complaint of the girl’s family, police said that they registered a case under Section 106(1) (causing death due to negligence) against the building owner, Deepansh Goel, and the hostel operator, Mallikarjun Reddy, for not maintaining the lift properly. The body of the girl was sent for post-mortem.
